Taryn Manning - Turn It Up (Acoustic Version)

Jesse James and Kat Von D Split

I honestly thought that this couple was going to last forever. I guess I am wrong on occasion ;). According to Gossipcop, and Kat Von D's Twitter, she had this to say about it: “I am no longer w Jesse, and out of respect for him, his family and myself, thats all the info I’d like to share. Thanks for respecting that.” The couple were engaged since January and had planned to marry this summer. Distance has been linked to the reason for the split (he lives in Austin, and she lives in Los Angeles).

UPDATE (08/18/2011): They are back together! :)

Kristin Cavallari Calls Off Engagement!

KRISTIN CAVALLARI CALLED OFF HER ENGAGEMENT TO CHICAGO BEARS' JAY CUTLER! The couple got engaged this past April, but Kristin was spotted recently without her ring and has said she called off the engagement.

UPDATE: It was Cutler who called off the engagement, and he had this to say about it “Thank you all for the support, but if you talk bad about Kristin I will delete and block you. It's unnecessary and heartless. Also, don’t say now I can play football, I could play football when I had her compared to when I don’t. Football is the least of my worries, so have some respect.”

Amy Winehouse: Dead at 27

It has been confirmed, at 4pm London time, police were called to Winehouse's home, where she was found dead. They are still looking into the cause of death, but many people are saying it was a drug overdose, and I agree. I personally think she had more problems than any of us knew about. I wasn't a big fan of her music, but Lady Gaga and Adele have both said that she had paved the way for their careers. RIP

Album Review: Brianna Taylor - Fireworks at the Fairground

You probably know her from Real World: Hollywood, but she was also on American Idol! This as actually her second album, and you can buy the first one (the one with Summertime - which reached #1 on ITunes) here, here, or get it from me!

1. Criminal - I like the song, but they could've picked a better song as the lead single.

2. I Know What Boys Like - An Okay cover

3. Every Second Counts - I love the song, and the song really shows her voice range nicely

4. The Last Time That I Said Goodbye - Not her best, but not bad

5. That's The Way It Is - Kinda has a country vibe, but I like it (one of my faves)

6. Today Is The Day - Another song that shows off her talent

7. Wonderland - It's okay

8. All I Wanna Be - very catchy and easy to sing along too. It is my fave song on the album! :)

9. Bittersweet - I like it. its catchy

10. Clap Your Hands - another catchy song with fun lyrics

Purchase this album here!

Interview: Annie Marleau

Annie and I have been friends for about 6 years now and I am very excited she let me rack her brain for this interview :P. You can find her on MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter!

1. How did you get started in the music industry? Have you been singing since you were a kid?

As a child I would sing around the house and often put on shows with the neighbourhood kids. I loved singing and performing and always saw myself performing in musicals. At the age of 12 my life took a new direction when I was accepted into the world renowned National Ballet School in Toronto and didn’t think about it again until after I gave birth to my son.

I always wanted to learn how to sing and decided to take a few lessons in 2004 and proceeded to work at it on my own after that. When I recorded my first album, I was really learning how to write and sing. Without any training or experience the songs just came to me and I recorded them as they came to mind. My husband Jeff was a singer and musician before we met and provided me with a lot of support especially during my first live shows where I barely knew what I was doing. When I look back at all that I accomplished in such a short period of time, I see myself as being either really crazy or very “gutsy”. All I knew at the time is that I loved singing and I just had to do it no matter how difficult it was.

2. Out of YOUR songs, what's your fave?

I have a few. Off my first album my favourite song was Alive although I have other favourites for different reasons. Off my second album I really like “Something’s Gotta Give”

3. What can we expect to see/hear from you in the next year?

At the moment I’m taking some time away but I’m hoping to begin recording again sometime next year. Although I pursued the Country genre this past album on the advice of my last producer, I have discovered that it is not the genre of my choice. I prefer to write a more abstract lyric with a more “laid back” vibe. You can expect to hear more of the same genre as my first album with perhaps a more “organic” feel in the instrumentation's.

4. What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love to workout in my spare time as well as travel, going for walks in nature and getting together with friends and family. I also love trying new foods but that gets a bit expensive at times!

5. What other musicians do you like?

I have very broad taste in musicians/writers/artists. I love Alanis Morissette, Shania Twain’s voice, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Perri, Brandi Carlile, Cyndi Lauper, Vince Gill and Peter Gabriel.
