Movie Review: Battleship
The movie starts off with the backstory of a misfit brother who will do anything for his "birthday wish". Fast forward a little bit later and he is a Lieutenant in the Navy, and so is his brother. Something then happens and he needs to prove himself worthy. The movie stars a lot of people, but I think it was cast accurately. Rihanna did a really good job in her first movie. Anyway, I liked the movie - thought it was just the right mix of humor and action - 3.5 out of 5!

Raven Addresses The Rumors
You might've heard by now about the reports of Raven-Symone being a lesbian, and being in love with a chick from ANTM (AzMarie Livingston)...well, apparently so has Raven because she had this to say about it:
“I’m living my PERSONAL life the way I’m happiest. I’m not one, in my 25 year career to disclose who I’m dating. and I shall not start now. My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I’m datings to know. I’m not one for a public display of my life. However that is my right as a HUMAN BEing whether straight or gay. To tell or not to tell. As long as I’m not harming anyone. I am a light being made from love, and my career is the only thing I would like to put on display, not my personal life. Kisses!”
Although I am glad she addressed them (I was curious to know), I have to say (from past experience) that certain things said in the above statement are usually an admission that they [rumors] are right.

"Carrie" (remake) Casting News
I am sure that you have heard by now that they are remaking the cult classic (again), but this time the casting seemed to be a priority:
Chloe Grace Moretz is playing the title role.
Gabriella Wilde is playing Sue Snell.
Julianne Moore will be Carrie's mother.
The movie will be directed by Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don't Cry).
I am actually looking forward to seeing this one :).

Like Mother, Like Daughter
I am sure you have all heard by now that President Obama finally openly supports gay marriage (at least for now), but not everyone was happy about it. Bristol Palin had a few things to say:
“While it’s great to listen to your kids’ ideas, there’s also a time when dads simply need to be dads. In this case, it would’ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage. As great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview. In this situation, it was the other way around. I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren’t younger, or perhaps today’s press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as Attorney General because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox. Sometimes dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking. In this case, it would’ve been nice if the President would’ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of ‘Glee.’”
Okay, first of all, shame on her for implying that there aren't good and bad eggs out of any set of parents - gay or straight. Secondly, THERE IS NO PROOF WHATSOEVER that straight parents make better parents than same-sex parents. Straight parents end up with kids that are homeless, abused, in foster homes, on drugs, or get arrested, just like any other parent. They even raise gay kids, and have teen pregnancies (yes, I am talking to you, Palins)! *gasp* Not all gay parents poop out rainbows either - I know some personally that shouldn't have kids, but I know straight parents like that too.

News Tidbits
Reese Witherspoon's parents are going to court. Reese is one of my favorite actresses, but this story made me laugh. I guess her parents have been separated since 1996, but never officially divorced (odd), and her dad just recently got remarried....sounds ok, right? WRONG. Her mother, Mary Elizabeth Witherspoon, filed court documents to annul the new union. According to her, when asked about the new marriage, John Witherspoon said he not only didn't know who this new lady was, but also didn't remember getting married - ouch! I honestly can't tell if he really does have dementia, or is bullshitting her. Everyone involved is due in court on May 31st.
I said a long time ago that the Chris Brown/Rihanna reunion was a huge mistake, and I was right! After hearing him diss her in a song (“Don’t fuck with my old bitches/like a bad fur/every industry nigga done had her/trick or treat like a pumpkin/ just to smash her.”), Rihanna unfollowed the doucher on Twitter, and he responded by unfollowing her as well (with this to say: “Assumptions! I didn’t say any names so if u took offense to it then its something you feel guilty about.”). Good job, RiRi! Time to move on!

RIP MCA
Unfortunately, a happy post had to be followed by a sad one.
We said the eternal goodbye to a music legend today - Adam "MCA" Yauch (of the Beastie Boys) passed away today at the age of 47. Adam had cancer and he had gone public about it in 2009. I am very sad that he lost the battle, but his music will live on forever. I have posted my fave Beastie Boys song below:

Happy Birthday, Lance Bass!
I am sure that we have all finally given up on a reunion, but I still love the idea of one. It seems Lance doesn't need NSYNC to have a good time - in celebration of his birthday, he reportedly went on a getaway with his boyfriend and 10 of their closest friends! The destination? Saint Martin. The price? $20,000 for 4 days! It sounds like Lance has already had an awesome birthday, and his official birthday just started (May 4th). For anyone wondering, he turns 33 today. Here is my personal tribute:

The Voice = No Longer "The Voice"
The entire reason that I religiously watched season 2 left the show last night. There went Xtina's chance at winning this season (now it should be Jermaine Paul). I was very sad to hear the news, but this isn't the last we have seen or heard from Lindsey Pavao. I will always be Team Lindsey, and here is her journey to super stardom! We will miss you, Lindsey! I will no longer be watching "The Voice" (this season or any other), and not only because of her!
Anyway, if you want to follow LP on Twitter, it's @LindseyPavao

Artist Spotlight - May
I announced this months ago, but my first solo "Artist Spotlight" belongs to none other than Taryn Manning! She will be my featured artist all month long! She is no stranger to acting or singing, and has movies like: Hustle & Flow, 8 Mile, Crossroads, and (my personal favorite) Jack & Jill Vs The World on her resume. She also has been singing for years with her group, Boomkat (which also features her older brother, Kellin), and she has a solo album coming out SOON. If all that wasn't enough, she also DJs, models, and is a designer. I would say that she stays pretty busy, but she says she loves every minute of it! You can find her on Twitter or Facebook, but either way be sure to tell her that Lilly sent you! <3
