Kaley Cuoco - Maxim Australia (July 2012)

News Tidbits

Oscar Winner, Jennifer Hudson, will have a recurring role on the next season of “Smash”. She will be joining fellow Idol alum, Katharine McPhee. Hudson will be playing Tony-winning actress, Veronica Moore. I hope it leads to a lead role eventually, or at least a "special guest star".

Mary Cheney married her girlfriend of 20 years, Heather Poe. The couple have two children together, and they were congratulated by Dick Cheney himself. Gay marriage is legal in D.C.

Carrie Underwood Responds To Homophobic Haters

She was recently called a disgrace to Christians, and a horrible role model after coming out in support of gay rights, but she isn't one to back down and had this to say in response:

"I was asked a difficult question in the last five minutes of an interview and I answered it the best way I knew how, and after that I do what I do and I love making music and I generally try to stay out of any kind of controversy. The role-model word is really scary to me, because no matter what happens in your life, something you do, wear, say, sing, whatever—somebody somewhere is probably not going to like it too well. I just really try hard to do what I do and try to be nice to people and make great music and if people think they can look up to that, that's wonderful. If not, that's OK too."

Diem Brown Is On A Mission

Everybody has goals they want to achieve in their lifetime, and Diem isn't letting her second diagnosis of ovarian cancer stop her! She is determined to not only fight it this time too, but to also have kids. She talks more about it here, and you can keep updated with her story on People.com. I think she is a good person and I really hope she succeeds. She has overcome so many obstacles already - I am rooting for you, Diem!

Also, be sure to check out her website, medgift.com!

The Lacheys Announce Their Baby's Gender!

Vanessa said she wanted a boy first, and she got her wish! She posted this announcement on her official website yesterday:

“It’s a BOY. Nick and I are incredibly excited to share the news that we are expecting a baby boy. We can’t wait to meet him soon!!!”

I am excited to see this kid - he is going to be a cutie!

In other news, it has been a really good week for Nick and Vanessa (finding out the gender, announcing the 98 Degrees reunion), and I hope their good news continues.

Monsters University (Teaser Trailer)

RiRi and Big Bang Star Lend Their Voices To New Film

Have you ever read the book, The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex? Well, they are making it into a movie called Happy Smekday!, and Rihanna and Jim Parsons will be playing the leads! Tim Johnson will be directing the film, and it's expected to have a late 2014 release. In Smekday!, a friendly alien race invades Earth and uses it as a hideout from their enemy. When an alien accidentally notifies the enemies of his whereabouts, he is forced to go on the run with a teenage girl, across a post-apocalyptic America and learning what it really means to be human.

98 Degrees Reunion Update

The guys may not be doing the summer tour that we all hoped for, BUT they are getting together for a one-time show at the Summer Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania on August 18! There is the possibility of more shows down the line as well (this according to the Lachey brothers). Check out the interview they did with Ryan Seacrest below!

Jennifer Love Hewitt's Biggest Supporter Has Passed On

It's not a secret that Jennifer Love Hewitt's mom, Patricia Hewitt, is her REAL number one fan, but I am sad to report that she lost her battle with cancer yesterday. Her mom moved Love to CA when she was a kid, so she could try to become a star (we all thank her for that). Love's rep had this to say in a statement:

"Her family mourns her loss. She was an angel to all who knew her and they are grateful she is now in a better place. They ask for privacy at this difficult time. No further details are being provided."

Love's mom was known for her sense of humor; for example, when JLH starred in "The Client List", Pat had this to say to her about it:

"She was like, 'So let's review ... For 15 years people have been talking about your boobs. Earlier this year, you wrote about your hoo haw in a book. Now you're playing a crack ho on TV.' She was like, 'Do you think maybe you could do an animated movie next?' "

RIP Ms. Hewitt, and my thoughts go out to Love and her family :(.

If you would like to send her your condolences, she can be found on Twitter or Facebook

Carrie Underwood Shows Her Support For Gay Marriage

She did an interview recently, and she had this to say:

“As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love. Above all, God wanted us to love others. It’s not about setting rules, or [saying] ‘Everyone has to be like me.’ No. We’re all different. That’s what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It’s not up to me to judge anybody. "

She also attends a "gay friendly" church with her husband, Mike Fisher, and is against people who use the bible as a way to "hate".
